The Denver Nuggets managed to snap their season-long 4-game losing streak as they took on the Detroit Pistons in a late-season matchup on March 16, 2023. The Nuggets showed grit and resilience, displaying their championship-winning pedigree, as they won by a close margin of 119-100.
The Pistons had a solid start, building an early lead, and taking an eight point lead into half-time. But the Nuggets rallied to tie the game at the end of the third. The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams holding the lead at various moments. Ultimately, it was the Nuggets’ superstar center, Nikola Jokic, who hit another gear in the fourth leading the Nuggets to a 16-0 run to begin the frame. The Nuggets won the final quarter with a dominant 33-14 12-minute finish.
Jokic had a phenomenal night, finishing the game with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Yet another Sombor Double for the back-to-back MVP. Who sat the final 1:30+ so he could stat pad from the bench. He was the only starter pulled.
The Nuggets’ guard, Jamal Murray, also had a strong outing, contributing a double-double of his own with 19 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. All five starters scored at least 15 points providing all the support the Dynamic Duo would need to snap their losing streak.
The win was a much-needed boost for the Nuggets, who had been struggling in their recent slide. It also showed the team’s resilience, and their ability to fight back from a deficit, which will serve them well as they push for playoff glory.
The Nuggets’ next game is against the New York Knicks on March 18, 2023, and fans will be hoping to see more of the same from Jokic and his teammates.
